I can see some logic to that. If perhaps the answer to do a little more was summer school. My Mom has had cases where kids get held back 2 years, and you essentially have what should be an 8th grader in Elemenatary schools. That causes a lot of problems. But I don't think they should just pass kids anyway, which is what happens.
sure, i think we do need to overhaul some of our educational practices and i'm certainly open to revisions of our educational language in a lot of cases. i think i'm just amused by the term "deferred success."
in fact, i think i'm going to start using that construct more often. "hi, my name is sarah and i'm a deferred supreme court justice." what? just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it never will!
